Heather and Ivan Morison
Latest news>> Heather and Ivan Morison have proposed a contemplative artwork for both Manchester Cathedral and Didsbury Mosque. Their simple, yet beautiful idea will provide somewhere to sit, shade and refresh. A place to invite a stranger or visitor to sit or to rest, talk or shade from the sun. A sample bench from the proposal is pictured. Art and Sacred Places is now working to progress the commission in preparation for funding bids. The artists were invited by Art and Sacred Places, in partnership with Manchester Cathedral, in the city of Manchester to create work which aims to fulfil the brief of an award from 'Faiths in Action'. This award seeks to: - Develop structures and processes
which support dialogue and social action Participant groups include: Manchester Cathedral Heather and Ivan Morison have been selected for this commission because of the genuine ways in which they involve people in their practice. They harness the expertise of participants and specialise in bringing together different cultures and histories through rituals of sharing and exchange in the process, production and exhibition of their work. Their work might be classed as an expression of political (in the Greek sense) spirituality. But, most of all, it expresses and exemplifies a vision for endeavour and perfection. Comments to date: "Without the art project we would not have been able to make this link." "We are looking forward to widening the reach of this exciting project." " For us, this fits perfectly with our sense of what we are about, in the civic realm." More information about the project will be available as the artists' work progresses. |
